Vaya sorpresa la que nos dio Niall al llegar con su primer sencillo como solista titulado This Town, ésta balada acústica llego sin ser anunciada, Niall no hizo promoción alguna antes de esto, sino que el día del lanzamiento posteó en Facebook lo siguiente:

“Been workin in the studio and I wanted to share this song with u guys. I wrote ‘This Town’ with Jamie Scott & I hope ya love it as much as we do. Thank you for always being there. You are the best fans in the world!”           

(He estado trabajando en el estudio y quiero compartir esta canción con ustedes. Escribí This Town con Jamie Scott y espero que les encante tanto como a nosotros. Gracias por estar siempre. Son los mejores fans en el mundo!)

Y publicó un tweet que sin duda fue un boom para todas sus fans.

“Estoy muy contento de anunciar que he firmado un contrato con Capitol Records EE.UU. y liberado mi primera canción en solitario, gracias a todos los aficionados para One Direction por su amor y apoyo como siempre. Estoy deseando que llegue la siguiente parte de este viaje juntos.” dijo Horan en un comunicado de prensa. 

A parte de este sencillo, Horan hará una colaboración junto con Shawn Mendes, ya que este último confirmó esta participación en una entrevista del programa The Late Late Show.

Greg Kurstin en colaboración con Sia produjeron la canción, que co-escrita por Horan, Jamie Scott, Mike Needle y Daniel Bryer.

Niall firmó contrato en solitario con Capitol Records al igual que Liam Payne. Harry Styles con Colombia y el ex-integrante Zyan Malik ha estado en RCA. Louis Tomlinson es el único pendiente de contrato desde que One Direction entró en descanso.

El video de la balada acústica es totalmente en blanco y negro y vemos a Niall frente al micrófono todo el tiempo y tocando su guitarra. Aunque existen rumores de que ésta canción es para Selena Gomez aun no hay nada confirmado. Sea para quien sea, la canción nos encanta y Niall promete una gran carrera como solista.
